Holbrook, Arizona
About two miles of hills, tires, water and mud, with a giant slide waiting at the finish line. Run it solo, bring your whole crew, and let the kids have their own muddy loop for free.
What you’re in for
You start by charging up a big dirt hill and dropping straight into a muddy ditch, so nobody stays clean for long. From there the course winds through tire runs, berm walls and mud pits, slides you into the wash on a soapy bubble slide, and sends you wading through the river run before the long push home.
This isn’t a boot camp. Every obstacle can be finished on your own, there’s a way around any of them if you need it, and you set your own pace. Run it hard in the race wave or walk the whole thing laughing with your friends.

Entry
Every runner who crosses the finish line gets a Petrified Mud Run finisher hat, and spectators are always free, so bring the whole crowd to cheer you on.
Ages 14 and up can run on their own. Ages 11 to 13 are welcome on the full course alongside a registered parent or guardian.
RegisterBusinesses, churches, clubs, sports teams and families. Your team runs in the same wave, and the captain pays once for everyone.
Register a TeamA short, muddy loop right by the finish line with tire steps, a noodle forest, little humps and a mini finish hill. Just bring the kids anytime during the event. A parent or guardian signs a waiver for them on site, and they can play in the mud as long as they want.
Race day
The course is in Holbrook, Arizona. We email directions and parking details as soon as your entry is paid.
Spectators are free and welcome. There’s a spot to watch the action and plenty of room to cheer at the finish.
The good stuff
The first man and first woman across the finish line in the 10:00 race wave get their names on the Petrified Mud Run trophy, which stays in Holbrook, plus a plaque to keep, handed out right at the finish line. To win, you have to go through every obstacle. There are fun awards too, for teams and more.
Questions
Nope. Every obstacle has a way around it, and nobody will give you a hard time for using it. The only catch is in the race wave, where skipping an obstacle means you can still finish but you can’t win.
No, there’s no clock. The 10:00 race wave is for anyone who wants to compete, and the first man and first woman across the finish line win. To win, you have to go through every obstacle, and volunteers will be watching the leaders. Every other wave is just for fun, so go at whatever pace you like.
Ages 14 and up can run the full course on their own. Ages 11 to 13 can run it with a parent or guardian who is also registered. Kids ages 4 to 10 get their own free loop, and they don’t need to register. A parent or guardian just signs a waiver for them on site. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to sign the waiver.
Yes. Everyone signs a waiver at the registration table on race day before they run. Runners under 18 need a parent or guardian there to sign for them, and parents sign for kids on the free kids’ course too.
The captain registers the team and pays $150 for up to 10 people. Then each teammate signs up with “Join a Team,” using the exact same team name, so everyone is on the roster and in the same wave. Your whole team runs together in one wave.

The run goes on rain or shine, since it’s a mud run after all. If lightning or anything unsafe shuts the course down, we’ll email everyone who registered.
Entries aren’t refundable, but you can hand your spot to a friend. Just email us their name before October 20.
